AI for Knowledge Management and Enterprise Search
Leveraging AI for smarter search and knowledge retrieval in organizations.
This week, I explored AI applications in knowledge management. Integrating RAG with vector databases allowed me to build systems that retrieve highly relevant information from large corpora — the kind of information that used to require knowing the right person to ask.
I realized that tuning retrievers, managing caching, and designing the right prompts are crucial for enterprise adoption. Technical accuracy is necessary but not sufficient — the answers also need to be formatted and scoped in ways that fit how people actually ask questions at work.
My inference is that AI can greatly enhance knowledge workflows when engineered thoughtfully. The goal is not to replace institutional knowledge but to make it accessible to everyone in an organization, not just the people who have been around long enough to know where things are stored.
